What you will need:

A fabric measuring tape (we take all our measurements in inches).
Assistance from a friend (the measurer)
A well fitting shirt, pair of trousers (not jeans), or skirt, jacket, and a pair of shoes.

When taking measurements:
Keep the measuring tape comfortably snug, but not tight. Tailors will make the clothes so that they fit to your body, with the correct allowances.
All measurements should be made to nearest 0.25 inch.

Ladies

Bust: Place the tape measure under your arms, over your shoulder blades and across the fullest part of your bust.
Remember to breathe out first.
Waist: Measure around your natural waist. You can find it by bending to the side like a teapot.
Hips: Measure around the fullest part of your bottom at the top of the leg, at about 20cm/8 inches below your natural waist.
(When working out which size to order, always measure your natural waist.)
